Zesco United beat JKU of Zanzibar by seven goals to nil to progress to the second round of the 2018 CAF Champions league despite the uncertainty surrounding the post of head coach.
Tenant Chembo was appointed as an interim head coach after the Serbian, Zlatko Krympotic was put on leave. Chembo was told to win the league which he did but up to now he is yet to be confirmed as head coach despite him meeting the managements demands . One would feel after meeting such a big target he would have been given even a one contract as head coach to prove himself.
The uncertainty surrounding him became a serious matter after some sections of the media reported that George Lwandamina's return to Levy Mwanawasa Stadium could be close at hand meaning Chembo could be relagated to the role of assitant coach yet again.
With the qualification of Zesco United to the second round of the CAF Champions league it is only right that the man behind the triumph be given chance to prove his worth.
It might be time to give Chembo a chance as head coach of Zesco United but it seems the top management at Zesco United don't have that much faith in him and would rather bring back George 'Chicken' Lwandamina by all cost.
