Sam Kawalya has returned as head coach of Mbarara City, until the club finds a new permanent replacement.
The club recently sacked head coach Ibrahim Kirya, after just five games in charge where he won only one, drawing once and lost two.
Earlier reports indicated that experienced goalkeeper Aloi Kimera and defender Asuman Halishe, had taken over temporarily but the team’s media officer Edgar Abaasa, confirmed that Kawalya who was Kirya’s assistant at the beginning has taken over.
“Sam Kawalya has returned to the team. He will be standing in, in the meantime, as the executive embark on a new search for a permanent replacement.
“Kawalya was appointed with Kirya, but he never returned at the start of the year,” Abaasa confirmed.
The club host Maroons in Mbarara on Thursday in a Uganda Premier League match.
