16 time Ugandan champions SC Villa became the first team to beat Onduparaka at home, at the Green Light Stadium in a top flight game, following the 1 – 0 victory on Saturday 10th March in a Ugandan Premier League clash in Arua.
Since getting promoted in 2016, Ondu had not lost a match at home and went to the match against the league leaders hopeful of a win, but their ambitions were squashed as early as the seventh minute, when Godfrey Lwesibawa scored what would be the winner.
The loss, which was the seventh of the season for Onduparaka, did not sit well with the clubs fans who immediately called for heads to roll at the team, with their chants and placards directed at head coach Charles Mbabazi and club CEO Anthony Afeti.
The result sees Villa open a four point lead at the top of the table, with both KCCA and Vipers not in action this weekend , but it leaves Onduparaka stuck in sixth place with 28 points.
In the other matches played on the day, Police FC added to bottom side Express FC’s worries with a 4 – 3 win, at the Mandela National Stadium in Namboole, as Soana hit URA 1 – 0 at the Kavumba Recreation Center.
