The Arsenal win was generally a big positive for the entire team. It meant just a bit more for goalkeeper Petr Cech. A second-half penalty save saw the veteran goalkeeper reach a milestone of 200 Premier League clean sheets.
With Arsenal 2-0 through goals from Shkodran Mustafi and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ainsley Maitland-Niles' clumsy foul on Roberto Pereyra threatened to hand Watford a lifeline at Emirates Stadium. However, Cech guessed right as he stopped Deeney's weak spot-kick down the centre of the goal, marking the first time in 2,582 days in which the 35-year-old has saved a Premier League penalty.
Aubameyang then turned provider for Henrikh Mkhitaryan to wrap up a 3-0 win; with Arsenal not conceding in the top-flight match for the first time in 2018, Cech has finally reached his long-awaited milestone.
The relief was palpable at full-time, with Cech keeping out Premier League opponents for the first time in 12 games as the Gunners ended a three-game losing streak in the top flight.
