Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has said that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is one of the main reasons he joined the club.
Speaking at a press conference following their recent 3-0 win over Watford, the striker said, “Of course I am really happy because I am here because of him. He had the interest in me so I am happy to play for him.”
The marksman continued, “It is a big win. The team did very well and it is a great three points. We needed it. I think the fans are happy tonight which is really important.”
Europa League frustrations
The former Borussia Dortmund star further admitted his disappointment at not being able to play for the Gunners in the Europa League since he is cup-tied by adding, “I am really frustrated (in the Europa League) because the rules are a bit…. I don’t know how to say in English but I am disappointed because I can’t help my team. That’s life. I have to deal with it.”
Aubameyang concluded, “I can’t play every three days. When I was in Dortmund, I was playing every three days but now I play once a week or have a long time between games. It is not easy.”
Despite a slow start to his Arsenal career, Aubameyang appears to be gradually finding his footing as he adjusts to the strenuous demands of the ultra-competitive Premier League. The Gabon international is undoubtedly destined for greatness on account of his high football IQ and undeniable goal-scoring prowess - traits very much similar to those of club legend Thierry Henry.
